After months out of the studio, Nick announces that the nationals are back on - but which team is going? A-troupe and B-troupe must face off with five one-on-one matches to find out. However, a lot has changed, and things aren’t the way they used to be. At the end of the day, there is only room for one team to continue on the road to the nationals, and Richelle and Summer each make a choice that changes everything.
Journey to the Past
Now that B-troupe is officially going to the nationals, Cleo isn’t so sure they have earned it. Nick has concerns of his own, but an A-Troupe legend visits and shares that there is another, controversial, way to ensure the very best team represents the studio at the competition. As Cleo turns on her teammates, Richelle relies on hers after an upsetting run-in with a certain someone, and Ozzy speculates as to whether there is someone leaking private information about TNS.

Young, talented, and hungry dancers show up for the challenge, but as Cleo helps Nick, she resolves to give up her spot as dance captain and audition just like the rest of her old teammates. Meanwhile, Richelle, Piper, Amy, Finn and Kingston go to a Radiation performance, where Finn finds his new obsession! And Richelle reconnects with an old friend who might be able to help the team go pro.

Richelle and Shad work together to convince Nick to invest in Step Inside and must contend with his eager visions of what makes a good show. Piper and Amy decide to sabotage Amy’s audition for the Manhattan Institute of Drama and Dance for the sake of going pro with Step Inside, immediately regret the decision and try to undo it. Cleo loses faith in the one thing that she’s always believed in.
The Movie in My Mind
Shad surprises Richelle, and they share a beautiful moment, but just as they’re starting to connect, he takes one of many mysterious phone calls.
